Max E. Yergin, 92 of Lodi, passed peacefully Tuesday morning, May 2, 2017 at Medina General Hospital.
He was born in Lodi February 6, 1925 to Lucy (nee Neiswinter) and Joseph E. Yergin.
He graduated from Burbank High School lettering 4 years in basketball and baseball.
Max enlisted in the US Navy in July of 1943 serving in the Pacific as a coxswain on the destroyers USS Claxton (which earned a Presidential Unit Citation), and later on the USS Fullam.
After his military service he worked at Jewel Motor Parts, and later at CW Sommer in Lodi for 38 years.
On March 5, 1950 Max married Jerrie (Haulk) of Sullivan at the Sullivan Congregational Church. They had 67 wonderful years together.
He was a member of the Lodi United Methodist Church, serving as an usher for many years. He also served on the Lodi Village Council for 6 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters,
Linda Trares of Perrysburg, Ohio
Diana (Bob) McMahon of Lodi
Julie Yergin of Lodi
Also surviving are his grandchildren
Ryan (Marci) Trares, Cory Trares and Elizabeth Trares
Great Grandson,
Anthony Trares
Cousin, Louise Hagans
Sister-in-Law, Patricia Siders
and very special nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marjean, Nephew Max Wohlgamuth, In-Laws Kenneth and Harriet Haulk and brother-in-laws Don Siders and Fred Clayton
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 6, at 11 AM, at the Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, OH (330-948-1122).
Pastor Diane Bell will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Lodi United Methodist Church, PO Box 3, Lodi, OH 44254
